In Corvallis, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Oregon vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 8 am–5 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Corvallis is in Oregon, in the Pacific Northwest, where winters are mild and wet, summers are dry and pleasant, and outdoor recreation drives a lot of local business; hours change little through the year. 39 years in business speaks for itself. Ive been coming here for at least 30 years. My family also uses this place and every single encounter has been exemplary. Fair prices, consistently have done the job right the very first time, have never had a surprise charge, always call and let you know what they find and get permission to do the work. They will let you know what might be coming up but are never pushy about adding on work you hadn't considered. John himself, is the sweetest , most unassuming, kind, and helpful person, and Tiki (sorry if i mangled the spelling ) runs that front desk with precision and expertise. It is a fine team of hard working people at Johns Auto and I would, and still do , refer friends.

Went in to have my car looked at, it was rattling very similar to when I had a seized axel a few years ago. Mechanic insisted that it was not in issue with the wheels/axel/or breaks and said I had transmission issues (which was not the case). I was charged $200 for a missed diagnosed issue, which they didn’t really do anything for except drain and refill my transmission fluid. My car ran even worse afterwards. Went to a different shop for a second opinion and found out my back break calipers were seized (very similar to my front axel previously). Car runs so much better now. Please be cautious of the diagnosis they give you, and get a second opinion before they start working on your car.

My daughters Camry got stuck in park. Then wouldn’t start after she turned it off. Quick tow to John’s and a fast diagnosis of a faulty brake safety switch she was back on the road. The turn around time was less than 3 hours right before the start of Memorial Day weekend. Price was more than reasonable and the quick turn around was a welcomed return to great car repair service. If you need a car repair this place will not disappoint.

For the 19 years I've lived in Corvallis, John's has been my only mechanic for my F-250 and has always been fair, honest, flexible, and accommodating. John's love for F-250s from my model year (1997) made all the difference in diagnostics & repair. My truck's recent visit with John's is the last, as they did pre-trip inspections & repair for it's voyage to my new home in Hawai'i.

Will continue to trust John with my vehicles! I was having electrical problems with my taillights and was needing my new headlights to be installed. John was very patient with the project and the front desk kept me informed through the entire process. We had multiple issues come up with the back tail lights where we thought it was fixed but when I would leave I would have to bring my truck back in. I do not blame anyone in this because it was just a big pain and we couldn't figure out exactly what was causing it. After 2 days of back and forth John finally found the solution and I couldn't be happier. The price was super budget friendly and my headlights look amazing!!! Thank you so much!
